windows 7 update won't take key

Just done an install of w7 update version onto my new ssd and it won't regognise the product key. tried it several times and checked input was correct. upgrading from vista which is on old hdd which i've disconnected prior to install.

any ideas???

i think u have to install vista first to the ssd and then do the update to w7 (correct me if im wrong

Or you can install Windows 7 on top of Windows 7 to get a clean install

Yeah double install Windows 7, that way there's no vista rubbish kicking about
