I just built a new today computer with an intel i5 2500k plus 8mb ram and 60GB ssd, asus motherboard and graphics.

I've just installed the new windows 7 proffesional on it, and installed the motherboard and graphics.

I now am updating the windows 7 to service pack 1. How long should this take to do install (reboot)?

There were 30 updates and it has been at install update 14 of 30 from bootup for the last 7 hours, my friend told me it took his machine 6 hours to do with his i7 (Series 1) a while back to do all the Window's update.

It constantly goes to desktop sleep mode on the screen but seems to still be running when i move the mouse.

Has my computer crashed already? Or does it usually take this long?
Any comments or opinions would be appreciated

Thanks

Chan

eek, 7 hours is a bit excessive... If be thinking about cancelling the updates (long before now actually) Windows should roll back any failed/partially installed Windows updates.

Possibly try installing SP1 first before doing the rest of the Windows updates?
