so my PC just installed 24 updates this morning.
they were all marked as important bar one which was recommended now it wasn't the normal there's updates it just installed them..

so heres the thing.. I normally have rocket dock running and have never had a problem with it until now.

It wont run and when I try to run it it sends my CPU into melt down!!

if I look in the task manager and end the rocketdock process my CPU goes back to normal.

so this has only happened this morning since its done these updates!!

so Ive tried uninstalling the kb31017998 and then installing rocketdock again.. still no joy. when I try to run rocketdock my cpu usage goes straight to 60% when I end the process in task manager it drops back to idle.

so Ive had rocket dock working for the last few years on all my systems and never had a problem.. and its worked on this one up until these updates were installed.

but now im reading its not supported by 64bit OS yet I cant remember the last time I used a 32bit OS!!

so Ive now looked at a few other docks but either I didint like the look of them or the ones I did like I had the same problem as im having with rocketdock!! Ive found one that works and Im liking it so far.. it has a few extra gimmicks on it like a cpu use meter and a ram use meter.. but it does what I like.

its the win step nexus.. Im just using the free version at the moment and to be honest.. I don't think I would use the extra gimmicks in the Ultimate version to warrant the $25 the free one does everything I want it to do.

Funny you should mention this, as im having trouble disabling/enabling my Xfire now with my objectdock (which i assume is the prob) since the latest updates, as went to disable it to play Evil Within, screen went black as normal, came back, but everything was froze, could only move mouse about, tried the CTRL+ALT+DEL to get the Task Manager, but i couldn't select anything when i brought it up, i just got the spinning reticle when i went on to it, and same for my objectdock, so i had to hard restart.

After the hard restart, my Xfire was disabled, so i thought i'll try re-enable/disable again, just to see if it was a one off, but as soon as i enabled it again, when the screen came back as normal, i got an objectdock has encountered an error box, so i had to close it, but my Xfire re-enabled fine, so seems like my objectdock is playing up now, when enabling/disabling my Xfire since the lateat updates, as was all working fine before them.

Im on Win 7 64bit btw, and also, i didn't install the KB 31017998 one, i just hid that seen as it wasn't a security one, and i couldn't get any info for what it was at the time, but upon checking later on, i found it was just an update for some Lenovo PCs, so ive just left it hidden.

yea Im sure objectdock was one of the ones I tried to install and it wouldn't play game.
win step nexus was the last attempt as I had tried a couple before that had the same response as rocket dock.

Im also on Win 7 64bit

there's a few different skins on the nexus btw you might want to try it.

the one ive used is just plain as I liked that idea but there was a few nice ones.

yea I did look through all the updates that installed and the only one I could think might have caused the problem was the KB 31017998 as the rest are security updates as you say.
the rest of mine were for office which I wouldnt have thought would be the problem.

I had this too and tried reinstalling Rocketdock as well as loading default settings (my icons got overwritten yay!). A bit more digging led me to ntdll.dll being at fault after the update.

A reinstall of my graphic card drivers fixed it oddly enough... :)

I'll take a look at that, wonder why the updates have caused them to mess up, very odd. :p

Thats one to try, thanks :)

Do you really need this? Never been a fan of anything that bolts itself into like this.

I like it better than the start bar, just find that plain and boring. :p

as above really I prefer it over the start menu for programs I use regular. keeps them in one bit where they can be accessed easily. I also prefer it over having short cuts on the desktop it just looks tidier

Pin to taskbar, you get the benefit of jump lists, being able to press winkey + # (# = position of the program in the taskbar)

I don't use the start menu either, just the run box for notepad etc

so lastnight I had another windows update.. so I tried rocketdock again as I do still prefer this over the nexus.
:D its working nicely again!!
