I am about to purchase windows 7 for a system that has a single core opteron and Gefore 7800GT. The windows advisor states that i should buy the 32 bit version of the software and that the 7800GT is not compatible with the Aero software.

Can anyone confirm that i should be buying the 64 bit edition and if aero is compatible with the 7800gt.

Thanks

Need more info about the Opteron, but if the upgrade advisor says its a 32bit CPU then you'll have to take it's word for it and get Windows 7 32bit. 64bit Windows flat out won't work.

As for the graphics card, I find that a bit odd. It might be the case that Aero is not officially supported but surely the card must be powerful enough even if it is a few years old now.

there's no such thing as a 32bit opteron. MS have got it wrong. double check with cpu-z first but i'm 99.999999999999999% sure. :p

and a 7800gt is more than enough to run aero. :)
