Windows 7 upgrade problems

Hello.

am trying to upgrade vista home premium to 7 home premium

the only problem is its saying i need to uninstall some sony ericsson phone software which i havent had installed for years and i cant find it on my puter.

any ideas?

go to the sony Ericsson site and download it

Unless it's a shockingly old phone, the software will be on the Sony Ericsson site.

The only thing we can do is search the site the same as you. If you post the exact make & model then maybe someone would be kind enough to have a search. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes might see something you've missed.

why would it ask him to install the software in the first place?

Is there something on your PC at the moment for a sony phone?

Ah now hang on, I wonder if the OP is running either the upgrade adviser or the easy transfer wizard?

neither it just drops out and says these programs need to be removed

however it's not in the add/remove programs list

Ah gotya now. Two suggestions. 1 - Run CCleaner to clean any redundant registry entries and hope that then allows you to do an upgrade, or 2 - Give up on an upgrade if you can and just do a fresh install.

thanks for that ccleaner found loads of old registry keys

hopefully the upgrade will work now

Ah I totally misread "uninstall" - sorry about that. Memphis is probably right it does sound like a registry key has been left hanging around. I'd personally go looking for it myself but I wouldn't recommend tinkering if you are unsure.
