Hi there.

I'm looking at getting a new rig soon, and having some OS woes, so I was just curious about this hypothetical situation

As the Student upgrade of Windows 7 is £30, would it be possible to install a version of Vista that - hypothetically ofcourse - had already been installed on a previous computer onto a new computer, and then just use the Windows 7 Upgrade?

Is not possible? Or not legal?

Cheers for the response, but I think i'm abit out of luck - the offer for the student upgrade seems to have ended :(

I have an Upgrade and Disc for Windows 7, but already used it on my laptop. Not looking forward to having to shell an unexpected £80

When you're spending what, a few £100 on a new machine, is finding another £80 that much hassle?
You can get it even less if you buy legitimate copies from Ebay (seen them going for £60 - £75).
Just stay away from those selling you "keys" - because this is not legitimate.

It may be just another £80, but that's £80 which I could have used to upgrade towards a 5850!

I suppose that it's inevitable though :(
