I just felt I needed to vent, I bought a new laptop two weeks ago which came with vista and FREE windows 7 upgrade. I thought that sounded like a pretty good deal as I've been using the windows 7 RC and liked it a lot.

However when I get to ordering my FREE copy of W7 I find out I have to pay £19.99 for "shipping & handling", what a scam. And you know the worst part about paying £20 for shipping, the dam W7 disk will take about 2 weeks to get to me!

To whom whould I complain about this faggotry?

Sadly the laptop I have isn't shipping with windows 7 from the cheapest retailer and it would be a mega faff on anyway due to the discounts I used.

Maybe I'll threaten Packard Bell/Acer with a bad PR campaign! :D

most of the manufacuturers are doing the same but some charge more than others

it should have been pointed out to you when you bought it that there was a charge in the FREE upgrade

so its not dell then? lol oops

seems like people are getting refunds for the p&p

I got a letter this morning with " WE'RE SORRY - WE MADE A MISTAKE WHEN WE EXPLAINED YOUR WINDOWS 7 UPGRADE" as the headline. They are sending me a cheque within 14 days to compensate for the DELL charges.

I hadn't contacted them for a refund so imagine it's going out to all who purchased.

Eww, Packard Bell/Acer.

Recently had to pay £20 for a 'FREE' windows 7 upgrade from Sony. That's a lot of postage cost.

I've heard a lot of people complaining about this. Complain to whoever you bought the laptop from, ask them if they offer a download instead.
