Windows 7 Upgrade

I'm currently running Windows 7 HP x64 on my desktop and Vista 32 on my laptop. I have a spare W7 Pro key not being used on anything so I thought I'd upgrade my desktop to W7 Pro and my laptop to W7 HP (as I use my desktop more).

Is upgrading the desktop simply a case of entering the new key or will I need to rerun the installer? Will the W7 HP key work ok on my laptop after I've upgraded the desktop.

The Pro key is a digital river student version if that makes a difference.

Assuming the HP Product Key isn't for OEM, then it should work on the Laptop.

With the desktop machine, just search for Anytime Upgrade and follow the steps in the wizard. You wont need to install anything. The new key basically unlocks the stuff you weren't entitled to.
