Windows 7 Upgrade

Hi Guys,

I'm sure this has been asked over and over but i can't find a decent answer.

Can you upgrade a Win7 Home Prem license to a Win7 Pro without paying through the roof?

I have a Win 7 Pro disk already, which i believe is normally what the ££ goes towards when upgrading. Can you just pay to change the code?

If so is it a phone jobby or can you do it online?

As far as I know the cost of the media (ie win 7 dvd) is negligible. The cost of upgrading is the license itself. Windows anytime upgrade from Win 7 Home Permium to Pro is £120 (same price for license key or full media pack). Don't know if you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

What does Professional have that you need to use?

Home premium does for most pc's, just make sure you get the 64bit version( as long as ur pc is 64bit)

Needs the ability to connect to a domain

As most laptops ship with premium I'm wondering if its cheaper to upgrade the license rather than buy one with Pro already installed.
As they are much more expensive!

Consumer laptops don't tend to come with Professional editions of Windows. The only ones that do tend to be the bigger, shinier models but even then there aren't many. Dell and the like probably will let you customize to include Pro.
