Windows 7 User Accounts

I think if you have multiple user accounts set up it will always show the welcome screen.

AFAIK the only way to "auto log-in" is to have a single user-account with no password...

Is there an easy way to hide one on the welcome screen or to set windows to auto login to my main account?

As far as i know the welcome screen will always show if there is more than one user account, if there's only one user account you can use this method.

1) Run > control userpasswords2

2) Highlight the user from the list

3) Uncheck > Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer

4) Click > Apply

5) Enter your password in the popup dialog and click OK

Hope this helps.

You are looking for netplwiz. You can do it irrespective of the number of accounts on the PC. You'll have to choose the one that logs in automatically of course.

This is a good how-to;

PS: And it can have a password, you just wont be prompted for it at login. Still better to set one for security reasons. An account with no password would be easier to get into by other means.

Also, I'd recommend the account that logs in automatically is a standard user and not an administrator.

Thanks, I'll give that a go later.
