Windows 7 Virtual PC

So i went and downloaded Virtual PC for Windows 7 - Windows6.1-KB958559-x64.msu

Didnt need the XP thing, so just got the virtual pc software.

Was going to put Windows 7 onto it, so i could make a little video on the installation progress etc... using camtasia.

Was greeted with the screen below though.

Any ideas? Running on a Phenom II X4 965 so shouldn't be a problem.

your CPU may be 64 bit, but is your host-OS 64-bit?

It is indeed.

Windows 7 professional 64-bit.

i'm just wondering if virtual pc actually supports 64bit guests? i doubt it.

Well it asked if i wanted to download 32 or 64 bit version, so i got 64 bit lol.

Found out that Virtual PC dont support 64 bit OS's so going to try VMWare instead

ha, i was right to be sceptical. the reason being is that microsoft have always sucked at virtualisation.

edit: you should try vmware player 3 RC. it's much better than vmware server. that's assuming you were going for the free options.

Im running Virtual PC on 64bit win 7 no problems. I use it to run a XP installation

He means Virtual PC doesn't support x64 guest OSs. A x64 host OS is fine.

I use "Virtual Box" and have managed to put Windows 7 x64 on it.

Virtual PC 64bit, is for 64 bit hosts so it can address large amounts of ram,

It doens't support 64bit os's as of yet tho.. another fail on MS front.

Get VM ware and we done with it tho

Tried VMWare, but using it's built in filming recording function didnt work too well. It recorded really small and has black bars all over it.

Will google for Virtual Box.
