ok this is seriously annoying me now. i have done two fresh installs of windows 7 on my pc and both times the same irritating result happens at random times of the day/night no matter what im doing.

my screens refresh as if the resolution has been changed when it hasnt, it says something has disconnected from usb and reconnected when it hasnt, and i lose connection to the internet for a few seconds. it doesnt do this at the same time every day either.

i have no idea what the hell is causing it or what im supposed to be looking for to find out the cause and im ready to put my fist through it. can anyone suggest anything that i can use to record what is going on on my pc when its idle so that i can find out what the hell is causing these issues?

yeah i do as a matter of fact but never had this issue before with it until having to fresh install.

my hub is a belkin 7-Port USB Hub-To-Go - F5U706uk

I've had the same issue with a different powered hub.
USB transmits a small amount of power and the power to the hub is meant to fix this by providing a heftier source of power for more hungry devices.

The only solution I found was either to redistribute the devices so that power hungry devices were fed from the PC and light devices off the hub or to get rid of the hub altogether.

I managed with the first solution and then over time the hub naturally fell out of use.
Oh, an idea... double check the power to the hub, maybe check the voltage at the hub end of the power pack with a multimeter?

G'luck. :)

*facepalms* you know, i never even considered that!
i unplugged it and plugged it back in and about a minute after it happened again! I always plug my phone into it on my desk along with a couple of other things. as i dont plug my phone into my pc i just disconnected it from my pc and left my phone plugged into it. fingers crossed it works. thanks for the input BloodyL :-) it is very much apreciated

ok ive tried unplugging my usb hub but i fear the same is happening still, though i cant be sure just yet. any ideas how i can record what is happening on my pc in the background at all?
