Windows 7 without paswords

As a single user on a PC is it best just to install the OS without a password. If so do I just leave the boxes unfilled and go Next.
Are there any disadvantages for a single user to not have a password?
I shall have this PC on a home network with another PC and printer.

Yep just leave the box empty and continue with installation

No disadvantages at all.

Many things do require you to have a password however, such as Networking.

You can do what I do, and have a password, btu never get asked for it.

in the CMD Line, enter "NETPLWIZ" to bring up a dialog box... This will allow you to log on withotu using your password and have it automatic instead.

The only times you miht get asked now, is when it wakes up from sleep of a screensaver... In both cases, you can simply turn that off.

Nope, it'll be fine. As above, some stuff does require a password (such as RDP), but don't worry about that until something asks you to make a password.

It's always best practice to use a password.

Set a password, then go to start - run - "control userpasswords2" (without "") and untick the require password at logon box. Also turn off the password on wake from sleep and screensaver passwords if desired.

Use a password

Otherwise, someone could script the following..

run 'virus.exe' user=%username%

with a blank password, they could just run it as is. at least having a password would stop this

You can set Windows to autologin

If by 'single', you mean you live alone, then the only major worry is ****end mates coming by and fraping you, downloading pron, messing with your settings and so on.
Also, if you happen to get burgled and they nick your rig, it will be tougher for them to get your data/saved web passwords/whatever.
