Hi, hope everyone had a good Christmas, After getting Windows 7 for Christmas I have been trying to install for the past three hours or so. My PC has had some strange issues for a while, this was the main reason for me installing Win 7, e.g. random errors something along the lines IRQL not less or equal. I decided to format my HDD and install a clean copy after this I popped the Windows 7 install disc in and booted it, this is where the problems start. The disc boots with the windows loading files screen and then I have to wait for literally 10 minutes on the blue windows 7 screen before I can choose any options. I then get to the installing screen and the expanding of files takes ages and the other things such as installing features take no time at all ( as if they weren't actually installed). It then restarts and then an error pops up saying an unexpected restart has occurred please restart the installation.
I have tried numerous things such as resetting my overclock, resetting cmos battery, installing with only one ram stick in and i have also swapped the ram sticks encase one was faulty. So what I want to know is what the hell is stopping me installing Windows 7, I had similar problems installing Vista for the second time. I think it could be the disc drive not working properly, as my ram is new and passed memtest a few months back. Any opinions on what is stopping the install would be brilliant.
