Can’t get windows 7 to install either from official dvd or from bootable usb drive (fresh install new ssd drive)
Anybody have this problem, am I missing something obvious?
I can enter bios and have changed boot order to run dvd drive first all I get is black screen with flashing line for 10 secs then nothing.
When booting from usb i get please remove any usb discs and press any key to continue

Any ideas?

Can read the usb on another machine but no disc drive in it so not sure on disc. It is an official windows 7 dvd

Have you used Rufus to create the bootable USB?

Checked any options in the BIOS to allow booting from USB?

No used Microsoft tool and just pulled the iso onto the usb drive.

It’s an old am3 board
ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
and the bios isn’t great. I’ve tried messing with a few settings ie legacy support enabled, changing boot order etc

Long shot, but did you put the USB thing into a 3.? slot?
win7 doesn't read those, needs 2.? if I recall.

Tried both ports

Also won’t run from dvd!

I was hoping this was a common thing and an easy fix :/

Wonder if there is a hardware problem? Would it still boot to bios if so?
