Windows 7 x64 installed on machine using intel Pentium4

How is this possible i managed to install a 64 bit version of windows 7 professional on my old machine that still uses a Pentium 4 3GHz. It sucessfully installed with no problems and runs just fine no noticable slow downs havent tried gaming yet and it seems stable.

Some of the later pentium 4s are Intel 64 (ie x86-64) compatible. So with one of these chips Win 7 Pro 64 bit should work fine.

I once ran the 32bit W7 beta on a socket 478 P4 HT at 2.4ghz. Wasn't really usable so I stuck with XP. Going from that to my current 965BE system was a bit step.

P4s - 3.0 and above 775 versions, are still viable workhorses, even with Windows 7. God knows I manage enough of them

Is it a 64 bit CPU. If not go with Pro 32 Bit
