Well, having finally got around to installing Windows 7 Home Premium (had it since launch day!) I am having some annoying problems, well one main one anyway...

I keep getting a blue screen that states SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

It is damn annoying, and just appears when it feels like it

The only thing I have done to the system is change the HDD to a Samsung F3 500gb, and whilst in there I upgraded the RAM to 8gb.

I have tried reducing the overclock to 3.2 (down from 3.6), increasing the MCH voltage, but so far its made no difference.

Could it simply be that the 4 banks being populated is a little too much?

Anything else I could try?

Thanks in advance for any help, I have been trying to sort this all day, and am on the verge of ripping the extra 4gb RAM out and going back to XP. Thankfully I kept my XP HDD fully intact for now, so should be able to go back very easily.

Come on guys, help me stick with Win 7 :)

Okay, seems that it is indeed memory related. Is failing Prime Blend, and even Windows Memory Test (on boot) is listing errors.

Now, any idea what voltages to play around with, or should I just rip out the new 4gb RAM and go back to 4gb?

I would really rather not have to do that, as that was pretty much the sole reason for going 64bit - to allow me 8gb of RAM, just my luck

Hmmm, tweaked some more and set at stock (2.4ghz) with RAM at auto (814mhz or something similar) everything works fine.

So looks like I need to fiddle some more. Perhaps the system is just not happy with all 8gb running at 1000mhz.

Will have a play tomorrow and update the serial with my results.

Are you 100% sure you don't have a dodgy stick of RAM, that only rears its ugly head when under load? [i.e. OCd]?

I would do a few hours of memory testing at stock settings - just to rule that out before you pull your hair out tweaking.

Will test the new ones, but definately not with my old sticks, they were tested time and time again at various settings and never once produced any errors.

Will tweak some more and see what happens. I guess it could just be the load on the memory bus.

I had the same problem with 8gb ram running at 1000mhz, i could put just 4gb in and it would run fine. The only way i was able to run all 8 was to run it at 800mhz.

Yeah, that seems to be it. Currently running at 3.2ghz with all 8gb at 800mhz and zero errors. I guess 1000mhz is just a little too much for the board to cope with.

Will still try to tweak a few settings though, perhaps at 1000mhz it needs some of the timings loosened, or some random voltage needs a bump or 2.
