I've just installed windows 7 and the other 2 computers in the house are xp, how do I go about setting up a network for all 3? I have googled about but still have no idea, I think this maybe because I have no idea about windows 7 :D
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I disabled the homegroup services on 7 (there's two of them)

and just used windows folder sharing

one of the xp machines is asking for a password and username to access me, and they can only find me when they do a search for me and I can only find them if I turn the firewall off on my pc, seems that this windows 7 is more trouble than it's worth:D

Make sure your local network is set to "private" otherwise a lot of the sharing and discovery services are turned off making the job more difficult.

Ive got the same setup here. Just installed Win 7 on main desktop, and have XP on my Netbook. Just cant get networking to work correctly. I can ping each machine fine, so somethings working. But I cant browse and see each others shared folders. Any suggestions? Or any info you clever guys need?
