Had a look though some/most of the threads, but having trouble finding the best download site for the 64bit system.

could someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

not to worry, think i've sorted it now :)

so it downloads as an iso file - i copy it to a dvd(slowly) and then just boot my new system with the dvd drive its in?

Follow this page here and scroll down to the bottom. You will see "Download 32-bit version" and "Download 64-bit version", click on "Select language" on your desired version and click "Go".

right it's downloaded - but as a 3gb DLM File...is this correct?

Good grief, that was quick. Or, I must have a really slow connection. :p

Regarding the file format though, it should be an ISO file as shown below:

I'm honestly not quite sure why the file is that type of format. Try it again and check the format of the file before you actually start the download.

As alwasy, i recomend ImgBurn to burn it.

Yep, burn the .iso to a disk, then boot it on your new system. You may have to go into bios to set the first boot device to DVD.

following what Fire Wizard and CliveUK have said..

make sure it's an ISO, then use imgburn to 'burn image to disc', you don't simply 'copy it to disc'

not sure whats wrong then as the above link downloads - 7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd.iso.dlm

DLM iirc is Down Load Manager (Microsoft uses a DLM to download ISO's and what have you) if it still has that extension it hasn't finished downloading.

Try renaming to .iso, and see what happens. If you can't, then you'll have to redownload. I know with gamecube backups, a .gcb as the same as an .iso.
