At the mo am looking at building a PC so looking into everything before i spend money. Am looking to get a ssd for op system. i was thinking is it pos to load windows7 on to a say 32g ssd and use that for just windows. And loading windows on to a hdd and using that to save games on. am just thinking because some games have to be save on the disc where the op systems is. would that work. sorry if ive not made it clear.

so what you trying to say is, that you wana load window 7 onto a ssd. but you dont wana spend loads on a big ssd and have it has a c drive. you just wana boot windows fast. then have a hhd as a second drive to load everything else onto?

You dont load windows onto a hdd because you already have it on ssd. just put windows on ssd and then your games on hdd.

Yes. is that posable?

yes, it's "possible".

Also, it's been 10 years since i've encountered a game that won't let you install it to somewhere other than the system drive.

as long as you don't "next next next next" the installation like most people then you'll be able to choose which drive to install it to.

I've got Win 7 and a few choice progs (Office etc) on my C drive (Kingston SSDnow 30gb) and all other programs and games on a WD Raptor (D)

Slightly off topic but the problem, in my opinion, with doing that is you're going to miss a lot of benefit of an SSD if you plonk your main apps on a secondary mechanical drive. In some cases it will even seem slower if your secondary drive needs to spin up. If you're still at the research stage I'd seriously look into something like an 80GB SSD.
