I'm going to be building a computer from scratch and haven't got another copy of windows e.g xp/vista.

Will i be able to use this to install windows 7 on its own (OEM):

OR will i need the full retail version?

You can use the OEM version.

You can use either but its better to use the retail version because the OEM one is tied to the motherboard so if it becomes faulty and needs replacement you will need to but another copy. but the retail one transferable

+1 this, retail is better option for the few extra quid it costs

Thanks for your help guys, was slightly unsure as i used to just buy a prebuilt system and then upgrade them when they needed it so i always had the original disc to use.
