sorry this may not be the right place topost this topic as i couldn't find software thread to the forum my old system that i have is hp pavillion elite m9346 which is 6 years old now but was on vista i bought the upgrade disc which was around £70-£80 i do have the key and it came with 32 bit and 64 bit discs would i be able to use this on a new build the chances are i wont be able to but wasn't 100% sure

You'll be fine suing this on a new build. I've done the same with a few PC's

how would i go about using it nut cause im getting windows 7 on my new build it would save me money if i could use this disc and key and for the price that im saving i could get the i7 processor?

plus im getting the system built for me as ive not got a clue on how to build the system myself just a shame that i have this disc and paying for another lolol

The disc is not the issue - it's the license and the product key.

If it's OEM licensed then your breaking the terms. If it goes looking for the windows marker in the BIOS it won't activate on non HP hardware.

I never got the disc from HP i bought it from staples as an upgrade disc from vista

That's good. You'll still need a qualifying product installed on the new machine to install the Windows upgrade on to.
