No, it wasn't for 7.
Windows 7+ are supposed to recognise an SSD and therefore not defragment it, however there was a thread posted on here a few months back, which indicated that there was a bug in Windows 8.1 which means it still defragments SSDs. However if I remember right this was disproved, but it's still worth checking.

Enable AHCI mode on the motherboard, install Windows.
Then, just leave well alone.

I remember too. This was certainly the case, OP.the info in that thread was find to be wrong
