Windows 8.1 and task manager

What is it with Windows 8.1 task manager?

I play a game,Infestation..which is notorious for crashing..anyway.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete..i can see task manager has appeared up in the task bar but switching to it doesn't work,i cant even right click on the crashed game to close it...never had this issue in Windows 7!

only way i can get back to the desktop is to log off! :mad:

maybe its the game
task manager is working fine here when I need it.
is it the same when you haven't run the game and you go to task manager?

Have to set it to "always on top in" the options bar and it should be ok.

This. It used to be on by default but isn't in W8 for some reason.

This, far better way to bring up task manager.

Then use alt/tab to get out open if your crashed program is playing up. Winkey + L if that fails

Doesn't help with some games unfortunately. I just got Dark Souls which doesn't run without some dodgyness on my part. Pre the fully legit exes and mods I had to get it would crash and couldn't alt tab to anything. I got out of it by blindly using the taskkill command from Run, but couldn't do anything apart from that.

Shortly after I realised my task manager wasn't always on top!
