Sorry if this is in the wrong place, it seemed the most appropriate place to post.
Anyway, I've been using this machine for 4 years with no hardware changes, until recently (last week) it has been fine. Now, it seems that every so often it just hangs, all the lights go out on my peripherals, I cant move a mouse and the only way to restart is by holding the power button.
There seems to be no way of replicating the freeze, except when I am doing something slightly important (or playing an MMO) and for the life of me, I just cant figure out what's wrong. It seems like any program can cause it (just triggered it using Maya) and isn't limited to graphical programs either as Word also broke it last night.
I've tried a full virus scan (twice) and nothing is found, ran the windows mem test and all is fine with that apparently, chkdsk reports no errors on any drive, and to make sure it wasn't my overclock, I've reset that to stock too. Tried with one graphics card in, tried with all three, still seems to freeze. Again, it seems completely random when it choses to do it, and I am very stumped.
Any suggestions are appreciated,
Specs:
1055T at stock (was 3.5)
HIS Reference 6950 at stock clocks (was 3 x 6950 with 6970 bios but all reverted and two removed)
Gigabyte 890FXA UD5
8GB OCZ Gold
1000w PSU forgot brand but is less than a year old
1 x G.Skill Falcon 64GB SSD (first gen G.Skill, I think) << OS Only
1 x WD1001FALS(Black)<<Steam Drive,
1 x WD10EAVS(Green)<< Data
1 x WD640AAKS(Blue)<< Data
Thanks, Mat
