Windows 8.1 Fresh Install Query

Does anyone know if it's still possible to do a fresh install of Windows 8.1 using a Windows 8 serial?
I've done this before but need to do it again using the same serial key due to an upgrade and just wondered if I needed to buy a new key again.

It's a royal pain!!!!!

If you already have an 8.1 iso, you need to use an 8.1 key. Then you can switch to your own windows 8 key through dos to activate.

If you haven't yet got the iso, good luck (ms recently changed the download exes) :rolleyes:
 
Erm I have the 8.1 ISO but only an 8 key. I managed to do it before I was just wondering if it still worked.
Is there a standard Windows 8.1 placer key that you use or is it a case of finding one?
 
So it's possible to do a fresh install of Windows 8.1 using that iso file and an 8.1 key? For some reason I had thought I had read somewhere that it couldn't be done. That's awesome, I assume it's the same process as it is for windows 8, you just input the 8.1 key in during install?
