Windows 8.1 Pro to 8.1 Enterprise Fails

Hi All

this is not a clean build this is an in windows upgrade, i install via the setup within the enterprise iso pulled direct from MSDN.

it goes throught he motions then eventually reverts back to pro with "restoring your previous version of windows" error code: 0xc1440137- 2000C. I think the prefix has something to do with languages but i have removed all language packs, performed OOBE with sysprep: same issue tried English US/UK . No joy.

updates all performed via windows. no anti-virus etc.

i can reinstall with 8.1 Enterprise so i do not believe its the OEM key locked on the mobo.

i have many units i need to perform in windows upgrade due to apps and the GPOs i have set for the users.

google brings up pretty much nothing. Anybody got any idea?

How did you solve this? Even i'm facing the same issue.

Pro <-> Enterprise is not a supported crossgrade.

However I did an in-place repair from Enterprise to Pro by changing a couple of Registry settings (ProductName and EditionID) before running setup. Perhaps the same will work for you.
