Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone has encountered the issue i seem to be getting with windows 8

Ive encountered it 4 times now in the last 2 days, the first 2 times have been when the PC has gone into sleep mode and ive awoken it, once woken I get a blank purple screen with the curser (the curser is movable but I cannot do anything as ive no folder/options/menus etc). I then have to switch the PC off at the on off button at the back of the deskptop. Following this I deactivated sleep mode.

When trying to “restart and update” using the option at the top right hand side of the windows screen (where you have switch off option) the PC switched off and then restarted with the purple screen and curser.

I then tried to manually install the updates using the search option, updates then install, the update seemed to install but once again loaded into a purple screen with a curser (this last time was before I left for work this morning)

Any suggestions? Have anyone heard of or encountered this before?

I've not encountered this issue, but is it now constant?

If so, can you boot into safe mode and try and restore from a previous system restore point?

Can you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and access the Task Manager while it's doing this?

Have you played around with your systems colours and changed the default desktop colour to purple, which would explain why it is a purple screen you're stuck on rather than the default black?

Ive literially only encountered the problem so i have not changed any settings or anything yet, i was looking for a diagnoses first before starting that

i have tried to boot the task manager but it doesnt work

I encountered this problem just before levaing my house for work this morning but i dont think it should be constant, i expect to be able to load into windows when i boot the pc again

I had this on one occasion, very random. After a quick Google, came to the conclusion it may of been caused by the unique way Windows 8 shuts down, it's some sort of hibernation, that allows for fast boot up. This feature can by turned off in the power options, with administrator rights.
Hope that helps :-)
