Windows 8.1 shows phone under networks.

I've just noticed that in the 'network' section of windows 8.1 it is showing a device under 'phones' as vodafone_UK and is showing the device as a HTC One X.

I have never been on vodafone and I have never had a HTC One X.

Does anyone know where this might be coming from?

When you joined your network, did you chose the option to search for any / all devices on the network?
