windows 8.1 slow and possible virus help

Hi

I'm having some problems with windows 8.1, startup is very slow compared to windows 8.

I have run malwarebytes and it found a file called PUP.optional.Alexa.TB.A

I have no idea what this is but I currently have it quarantined.

Should I just delete it now?

also plan on running ccleaner is there anything else I should try.

PUP = potentially unwanted program. It might have been bundled with free software.

It probably has something to do with http://www.alexa.com/toolbar

You should have a look at the Start-up tab of Task Manager. It will give you an idea of each programs impact on CPU & HDD during boot.

I would format/delete all partitions and reinstall Windows.

It's the only way to be certain the malware and file corruption is 100% gone.

^ Bit extreme. PUP ain't exactly credit card stealing malware!
