Windows 8.1 to Windows 10

I've just installed a brand new copy of windows 8.1 and activated it using the key - How do I find out what version of windows 8.1 it is - On the packaging it just says 'full'

How can I upgrade to windows 10 with this now ? Can I just download an ISO of windows 10 and use my windows 8.1 key

Just go to MS site and dload the installer and then select upgrade.. Win10 will assign it some sort of checksum that locks it to your motherboard but you will not retain your original 8.1 key as far as I'm aware..

Check first if yours is 32 or 64bit. You can upgrade existing PC or download an ISO. Good luck buddy

I already have a Windows 10 on a USB stick when it asks for a key can I use my 8.1 key

As long as you remove the USB stick when it says setup begins you won't be prompted for a key. I did it this way and didn't need my key..

If your upgrading from within 8.1 then you wont need any keys to be entered.

Its asking me for a key and when I enter it it says the product key didn't work

I was trying to update using a win 10 I had on a usb but I think I need to let the tool go through and download it that way

If your being prompted for a key you aren't upgrading, and therefore doing it wrong.

Log into 8.1, run the tool, select upgrade.
