Doing a quick search of the MS website gives some clues, but mostly referring to Vista offering solutions that do not seem to apply here!

Anybody else had this issue and managed to resolve it before I start poking around under the hood! (I am minded to try to update after a clean boot but wanted other opinions before doing this)

(The really annoying thing is that every time it tries to reload the update it dl's the whole Gig :( all over again! Why are these DLs not stored locally once initially DLd  )

Been having a problem getting this installed since it came out, still no luck getting it installed even with all the solutions posted on various sites.

Just having to hope MS come out with a fix of some kind.

Yep!

Much the same here. I am glad (In the nicest possible way ;) ) that I am not after all the only one here!

(Though I cannot believe that we are the only two! :D )

Great MS strategy.

Invoke a "Compulsory" update that fails on a very large (Total unknown) of systems!

(Does MS update report back to MS on systems where update fails with error codes etc??)

Was having the same problem but came across the below fix which worked for me.

1) Open an elevated command prompt.

2) a) If you’re running a 64-bit version of Windows, enter the following command into the Administrator: Command Prompt window and press the Enter key:

dism /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.14

b) If you’re running a 32-bit version of Windows, enter the following command into the Administrator: Command Prompt window and press the Enter key:
dism /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.3.1.14

c) If you’re running Windows RT 8.1, enter the following command into the Administrator: Command Prompt window and press the Enter key:
dism /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~arm~~6.3.1.14

3) Then enter the following commands and press the Enter key after each command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

4) Run Windows Update again and try to re-install KB2919355

5) If Windows Update still fails to install the update, Windows 8.1 customers should try to install it manually from the Microsoft Download Center. You can find the download links here:

32-bit versions of Windows 8.1: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42327

64-bit versions of Windows 8.1: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42335

Tried that one, The DISM "Restorehealth" thing doesn't work :(

(I get an error code DISM Error 0x800f081f )

Sooo Waiting for more I guess!

How do I check if it's already been installed?

You should be able to click on a link in "Windows update" that will show your update history. If it has been installed it should show as such!

(hopefully! :( Some of the web blogs suggest that even this might not be reliable! Seems like a total **** up actually!   )
