windows 8.1 updates not installing

i have an old toshiba c660d laptop and recently purchased windows 8.1 however whenever i try to update it it keeps telling me the update failed and its uninstalling updates. does anyone have a clue what may be causing this

does it give you any error codes or anything after its failed?

should normally give you a error code, is the date and time correct and time zone on the laptop?

I have installed 8.1 a few days ago and it updated with no issues.

That's worked for me in the past on problem windows 7 machines
