Just to point out, the conversation has been from Win 7 to 8/8.1 and BF4.

BF4 uses the frostbite engine, but the frostbite engine isn't BF4.

I even remember my self and many others here having problems with W8 and micro stutter wit hBF4, but as soon as 8.1 dropped it resolved the problem for many.

As I will be using a bootable USB for upgrading, so I assume that with this method I shall have to re-download all the programs again anyway as my SSD with Windows 7 on will be wiped using this method.

No from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 via Upgrade DVD

Me too I hate having to reinstall all my programs which is why I dont get people wanting to do a fresh install all the time.

I agree if you think your Windows is cluttered or needs a refresh but when you have collected and installed programs over x number of years a fresh install is a right PITB.

Never install drivers that come on the motherboard CD always DOWNLOAD the latest.
