windows 8 /10 - shutdown keeps appearing

Hi all

As per the title, after my dad upgraded to 10 his pc keeps flashing up the shutdown box and closing windows that are open. He mentioned it had some issues installing 10 so thoughts were corrupt registry or something during upgrade

I restored it to the Lenovo recovery partition and all has been well. Now finished updating to most recent 8.1 updates ready to go to 10 again and its started popping up shutdown again....totally clean install apart from AVG Free which has never been an issue.

Anyone heard of this before? Is it a dodgy update from MS?

Clean install from a 10 ISO and see if that works. It should automatically be activated if the previous 10 upgrade activated fine.

Another possible cause of problem is perhaps something is shorting the power switch?

Got it. Done a w10 upgrade again. Kind of did it on its own whilst I left it today.

Seems ok at the minute but have an ISO just in case now
