Windows 8 £25 upgrade question..

Will be buying upgrade before End of January to qualify.

Do I need to INSTALL the upgrade before end January or can I do the upgrade install after?

I'm asking as I am planning on using an old Vista licence to upgrade on a new build and I'm still planning the hardware!
Hopefully have it all built before end January but possible not.

Also, (just in case) would it be possible to install Win8 on my old current PC and transfer new Win8 onto new hardware when I build it?

Thinking this might be the most probable route I'll take if I can..

You only need to purchase windows 8 before the cutoff point for the lower price and you can then install it at any time after that.

Just make the purchase to get the key as well as downloading the installation data and create either a bootable USB drive or DVD which you can use when your ready to do the upgrade (if it doesn't give you that option, then just copy the files from the ESD/Windows folder (the ESD folder is hidden, so you'll have to have hidden files and folders visible) to a USB drive or burn them to a blank DVD to make a disc you can boot from to do the upgrade).
 
Hi all,

before i upgrade I want to test it. obviously i cant install it on a new partition. if I use the Backup feature on Win 7 can i just insert the disk it creates and restore from that?
