Windows 8/8.1 Re-install

Hello guys changing Motherboards this week, I have Windows 8 on DVD and also my Product key. Is it possible to download the 8.1 and use my key from Windows 8?

I see Microsoft have this site here, you can select what setup you want and it will download the file for you to continue with install. Anyone here installed Windows 8.1 without first using Windows 8?
