Windows 8 Adding Users

At the moment my pc is the family pc.

Is there any advantage to having seperate user accounts for everyone?

I can only see for linking all the start page to email accounts etc.

If I make user accounts does that mean that each persons files will be hidden? The only issue is my family are not too great with backing up and in the need for a reformat I can imagine files getting lost which is their issue, but I would prefer this not to happen.

As long as they aren't all admin accounts the files will be separated. In the app age I would say everyone having their own Microsoft account and signing in with that would be the best way forward.

You'll get a UAC prompt, but yes. Standard users will just get access denied.
