Windows 8 and games

crysis 2 has a dx11/win 8 problem. "undefined resolution" that cant be solved without flicking to dx9.

Thats been an issue with all crysis 1,2 and even Crysis 3 Alpha. They not fixed the 1080p full screen bug when using a HDTV. To get it to work you need to setup a custom resolution 1920x1076 and select that in-game.

Closed a windows account as there was a mistake with it, tried to reopen, I can't and now has a 30 days cooldown. This'll be fun not being able to log into stuff.

some may not have issues but a lot of people also do

way up your own descisions is all i say

for those that say cod4 works fine searcg cod4 windows 8 problem for eg its not a few either and if you get the issues its annoying .

i had similar issues with bf3 some dont but as said above a lot also have problems with windows 8 and bf3

also i play dirt 3 a lot also another game efffected

i do actually like win 8 though despite the problems.

how do you do this? ive tried the suggested game.cfg edits but it hasnt worked.

Just tried Bioshock and it started up fine.

GTA IV I have tried earlier and worked after manually installing GFWL (I think only Bioshock 2 was GFWL and that also didn't work until the manual GWFL install).

Not sure about Nvidia control panel. But on Amd CCC you can Add a custom Res So I edit the 1920x1080 to 1920x1076 and save. Then load up Crysis and go into settings and select the new Resolution you made.

Done :)

Sounds like we would be wise to wait a few months before using this as the main OS.

I hate the transition period and all the bugs that come with it... is it my drivers... why am I the only one with this issue... why doesn't this install... ah I cant use this hardware... why was I so impatient.

Windows 7 was utterly phenomenal though, not a single issue and I still love it.
