Windows 8 and games

Bit of a noob questions but how are older games with windows 8? And are the running ok atm

List of games I play so far

LoL
Battlefield 3
Ps2
Rift

Not necessarily. If I understand correctly, there have been some teething issues with DirectX.

I'm unsure what games are working as I haven't done much research, so I suggest you duel boot if possible.
 
I used the Pre release version for 6 months and never had any games run bar LA noire. Was advised that GTA was the same.....so im guessing its that engine.

The only game in your list i didnt play was rift. All the rest work in windows 8
 
i wouldnt use it myself . i tried myself 2 weeks ago win 8 pro

punkbuster had a load of issues
cod4 wouldnt work right lots of issues
bf3 lag pauses

basically it isnt optimized yet for hardcore gamers.

it will work for a lot but a lot it still has issues . i will wait 6 months till optimized more then go back on it
 
Windows 7 didn't need 6 months to be "optimized" it just worked, more or less. Windows 8 is not really looking too good for gamers at all :\
 
All games I have tried so far working great. Bf3 I did need to re-install punk-buster and Dx11. My heaven 3.0 score has also increased under windows 8.
 
Still cant get my retail version of Street Fighter 4:AE to work but yet Street Fighter X Tekken works fine after the GFWL tweaks.

I play both BF3 and CoD4. Not had one problem, even with PB or 'lag'.

Why's that? Everything Windows 7 ran, Windows 8 has as well.

so this is.....incorrect then?

There are a few games that dont run and games (and platforms ie origin for some and lolpunkbuster) that cause issues for some people. Repeat it as many times as you like but i dont see the point in saying everything will run if you know that isnt the case :/

It was more of an opinionated reply. Never said it was fact. ;)

*Reply to your edit* - I don't have these problems that others seem to have... If it was an actual Windows 8 problem - the surely everyone would have the problem?
