Windows 8 and Multicore Enhancement

Since I Installed Windows 8, I've noticed a few things, Firstly keeping the Multicore Enhancement enabled, actually (so far lets me overclock with far lower volts than Windows 7, Before this would push a 4.3 overclock on my 3570k with an Offset of 0.005 to way over 1.224, Now I get the same overclock with Multicore enabled 1.154v  4.4 results in a drop from 1.264 to 1.680v. for whatever reason I'm far happier with these result than before, Temps at Full load with Prime 95 are 53c for 4.3 and 58 for 4.4, I find this fascinating, because I wonder what I could actually achieve  I'll keep testing and let you know

Edit: both 4.3 & 4.4 were Under Prime for 6hrs

Definitely keeping an eye on this thread. I'm only really voltage limited on my 2500k so if I can drop volts, up go the clocks! Wonder what kind of effect on performance this will have though? After all, that's what overclocking is all about. No point pushing your chip harder if it isn't being used properly.

it might not be reading it properly tbh

No reason for it not to do so as far as I'm aware. Also on another point, I've discovered that no LLC whatsoever is required, So that makes me think that Windows 8 uses less resources, and voltages, I know for a fact the Pagefile on Windows 7 for 12GB of RAM is far higher then Windows 8 in a score of 14448MB on 7, and only 5542 on 8. Anyway, pushing up one step at a time, So I'll keep informed as to what results I get.

If we're talking about multicore enhancement on a motherboard, isn't that just a function that places the cores at their highest turbo setting when running xmp profiles (ie at stock)? Or is this an OS level option?

interesting... have you been checking WHEAs? also could be possible win8 doesn't have as many protections in place yet? gave up ocing my 3570k 'cause it's a turd chip, but this might help

What makes your chip a turd chip? What were your voltages when overclocking? and what did you overclock to?

OK! I've 2 Images for you to look at, Firstly tested with AIDA64 Extreme Edition @4.6GHz and Secondly tested with Prime95 @4.6GHz
There is a slight difference between AIDA64 and Prime95 in voltages and temps, but I'm happy with both, Note the minimum temps are 15~19c

any feedback appreciated :)

Looks good, did you try running 4.6GHz on W7, what volts did it require? Going from 1.224V at 4.4GHz to 1.336V at 4.6GHz sounds pretty normal to me?

Your temp increase is pretty large too for the extra 200mhz (par for the course when you start hitting those diminishing returns I guess). I'd drop it back to 4.4GHz with low volts and temps and enjoy for my 24/7 clocks

cpu-z showing up to 1.308v when doing 4.4ghz - this, after playing with pll and a bunch of other options, stability tested with 3 hours of memtest86+, 12 hours p95 small, 12 hours p95 blend, 30 runs ibt and 1000% hci memtest - whea errors with one step lower on voltage. but my mobo doesn't help, the voltage increments are 0.02v. but yeah seriously not worth overclocking much if i need those volts for that speed :x
