Windows 8 and SLI problem?

Been having problems with setting up SLI correctly on Windows 8.

Everytime I install the drivers either:

1) I can set SLI in the Configure SLI, Surround, PhysX option on the nvidia control panel.

Upon restarting my computer, I can no longer access the nvidia control panel but GPU-Z still shows sli as enabled.

2) If I do not set up sli in the same 'session' that is I restart the PC without setting up SLI.

I can access the nvidia control panel but Configure SLI/Maximize 3D performance is greyed out:

GPU-Z says SLI is disabled.

Please help!
