Windows 8 and Steam

Well, I had problems with 'games for Windows Live' games in the Windows 8 release preview (they would not run!) but decided to try out the Enterprise version to see if things would work in that. I still couldn't get anything to run. So, I am wondering if anyone with the new Windows Pro could tell me if they are managing to get their Steam games to work properly.

I am quite keen to upgrade for the improvements in Windows 8 but I do want to be able to play the games I have.

Working here fine although I only have two games.

Yes, working fine here, except for an apparently known issue with IL2-COD.

For the GFWL, install MS Flight through Steam and it will install the latest version. After that you should be fine. Alternatively if you don't want to download the full game you can manually install the latest version of GFWL from MS.

What games in particular?

1) Remove/uninstall Microsoft Games for Windows – LIVE Redistributable
2) Remove/uninstall Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace
3) Download gfwlivesetup from here (thanks to sevenalive): http://sdrv.ms/O2WvBt
4) Run it - install it and after that you can play the game

Definitely fixes the previously non-functional Dark Souls on Windows 8.
