Windows 8 - Boot configuration data is missing or contains errors

Right, I have a laptop with the above error, the error code is 0xc0000185

Tried using the recovery media however it just seems to spin with the little dot wheel and doesnt get anywhere for at least an hour

Any suggestions? Attempted to boot to a hirens disc but it wasnt having any of it in either legacy or uefi mode

Faulty drive would be my first guess, can you boot from any disks at all?

Very odd if none of the CD/DVDs will boot and find a HDD etc though.
