I have a strange issue with a system built for a buddy.

Windows 8 X64
Intel Core i5-3470
Asus P8H77-I
GeIL Black Dragon 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-10666
HIS HD 7950 3072MB
OCZ Vertex 4 128GB

The thing was stable as a rock while testing it for 3 weeks. Now gets bsod only once its been shutdown and left for around 14-24 hours. It will bsod and crash and windows 8 will run around in a loop and eventually sort the problem and you can boot.

Once booted no problems will work fine no crashes no issues for hours and hours and if you turn it off and leave it for less than 4 hours and turn it on again it works first time no issues. But as soon as you leave it off for an extended period of time it does the bsod and needs to sort itself again. I am properly stumped.

All drivers up to date and I have an identical system without issue, tested memory and cpu and hdd, tested Gcard temps etc warning in even viewer are claiming driver errors or other system driver error saying not hardware related.

Anyone got any ideas I am installing windows 7 just now to see if its stable with that and if it is will simply chalk it upto windows 8 not liking it.

Only thing hardware related that you've not listed are capacitors, either on board or psu.

Also try a bios update?

Updated bios as thought it might of been that. Never thought about caps etc as its all new but will certainly check all them if it still plays up with the new install.

What's the stop code? Generic 0x124 (hardware)?

Right click My Computer >> Advanced System Settings >> Advanced Tab >> Start-up and Recovery >> Complete memory dump

Think its a hardware issue. Windows 7 same issue after being off for over 12 hours it doesn't boot. Reboot and same again after about 5 mins of attempting to boot it will then work absolutely fine. Will retest the ram and gcard etc but I am thinking it might be a motherboard issue maybe capacitors?

Can you hear a very fine high pitched whine at all at any point? Possiy might just be a cold solder joint. Either way get the board replaced imo as it's new

I have another with exactly the same board and this may be unrelated but when using skype to the other pc when it does boot the onboard audio has an extremely high pitched whine compared to the other with the same onboard. Will get the board swapped out thanks bud.
