Windows 8 - Classic Shell (Windows 7 Style)

Does this disable metro completely, what about the annoying login screen with that stupid image you have move upwards? What about the support for games have they fixed that yet?

How do these shell replacements work, do they inject in to the explorer process or replace it completely? I found using stuff like that often causes performance problems and or increases crashes and all other types or random issues.

What about the lack of aero, I realy liked in windows 7 you can use the uxtheme patcher and then use custom themes from deviant art and so on with transparency. Blocks 8 just has those bland colours and ugly flat design and bad fonts, is there a way to make the entire theme look like windows 7 as well? I did notice in the screenshot in the op, there is a skin tab, does that bring back aero, wondering if anyone has tried it and can let me know. thanks.

Not this again, just click a button you don't need to move anything to log in.

Couldn't say but I'd personally recommend people to just get over it, you won't be able to put it on every platform or every computer you have access to so better to adjust and just get used to what's standard.

It's a bit like getting a Mac and being upset over the loss of the start menu, you really don't need it.

You have to flick that stupid image up and then login and then you have to go back to normal desktop. Way to painful of an experience every time i login.

I only have a desktop computer.

But you didn't realy answer my questions, you just made excuses for the existing rubbish that I am trying to avoid.

edit: honestly I think i could get by without the start menu, I don't even use explorer i use total commander and could probably make due with just some desktop icons and some pinned taskbar items, it is the inclusion of the fullscreen train ui that I couldn't handle. Reminds me of a cheap kids game. You can't even read the full text of the icons, i could complain for hours about that abomination.

Just hit a key, no need to slide it up, and it'll take you to the login. Put your desktop icon top left and enter again. UI gone. If you auto-login you'll be presented with the UI and just hit enter if your desktop is the first icon. :)

press any key, enter password, click on desktop.

If that's your idea of a painful experience.....

The text issues was fixed in the RC. Half of this stuff you are complaining about doesnt exist?

Rich: Is there any way to display the temp on Metro via CoreTemp and Afterburner? I'm addicted to watching the little numbers change in Windows 7 and not sure I can cope without them showing at all times :o

Can't see that ever happening, bit of a retrograde step for them and admitting they made a mistake.

I don't think Metro,Or whatever its called is a mistake,I mean i can see what benefit it would have for tablets, and even some desktop users like but i still think the option should be there for a default windows 7 theme.

I think he means a 100% metro experience. I'm glad the desktop is there personally even though it's going to confuse some people.
