Not sure exactly which of the Win 8 threads to ask this in so I figured I would make one!

I'm looking at wiping my SSD which currently runs Win7, and sticking 8 over the top of it. I've been told I can easily do this right from in the win 7 install, which is ideal for me since I can't really get into the bios to change boot devices without buying a new, simpler keyboard.

Anyway, if I do it like this, how much of an issue will it be having all the hard drives connected? I've usually disconnected them all just to make sure that all the boot files and so on end up on the correct drive, and not on one from a previous install, meaning that if I decide to format it, suddenly I can't boot the PC anymore.

On a related note, I have one hard drive which used to have a copy of Windows on and was never actually wiped. It still has the windows folder, as well as the Program Files, common files, and similar folders on it. The problem is that I can't format the drive from within windows due to permissions errors, and I can't wipe it form something like linux due to the above mentioned issues. So... what options are available to wipe that drive?

Thanks!
