Ok to start i love W7 and i have used W8 on a virtualbox and wasnt overly keen but i didnt give it a chance at all. Its not metro i didnt like (im a graphics designer so i dig the interface experince) it was just the fact everything seemed to need an extra click or an extra step.

should i install the RTM now and buy a retail key when its fully out? ot just stick to the tried and tested.

Are there problems with Windows 8 in regards to drivers (Gfx card, sound card stuff like that) or is it all sorted and good to go?

Thanks

I'm just dual booting Win7 and Win8 (both on TechNet Subscription)...

I've not found any driver problems yet!, but I have found a few programs that throw a flid under Win8, and even playing with the 'Run As' compatibility thinggy they still don't want to run!!

I don't spend a lot, if any time in 'Metro' (or what ever it's now called) as the desktop is there and still nicely usable!! I did try that 'Start Button' ShellUI hack but didn't like it so went back to the standard Shell.

Otherwise it's growing on me! I'm even teaching the Wife (a confirmed technophobe) how to use it!! :)

What extra clicks do you think are needed?

The main complaints i see are things like getting to Control Panel and shutting down/restarting.

For the first just right click where the Start Menu used to be. You'll get a new menu appear with shortcuts to Control Panel, System, Disk Management, Device Manager, Command Prompt and many more.

For shutdown/restarting just click anywhere on the desktop and hit ALT + F4.
You just have to do a quick Google search and you'll find new ways to do stuff just as quick as on 7, if not quicker.

As for drivers everything works fine for me on the RTM, apart from some issues with OpenGL games like Rage, but i'm sure this is just AMD's usual buggy drivers.
