Windows 8 Fresh install from Backup disk

Hello when I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 I created a backup disk. I would like to start fresh and reinstall Windows 8 if I use my backup does the upgrade key work?

Anyone who has done fresh install confirm this for me?

I followed the upgrade path from Win7 to Win8 and stupidly did not keep a copy. My install was screwed, so a week later I re-downloaded it to a pen drive then reinstalled over the top as a clean install using the pen drive with the same key.

No problems at all.

Thanks guys that reset sounds good. I only have couple games playing atm I need to backup.
Steam is ok it has its own backup feature, but origin dont I should be ok if I copy the Origin games folder over to backup drive and then after new install copy back and run the game recheck?
