Hi guys,

I have a toshiba C50D laptop. I picked up cheap as it didn't have a Hard drive.

I have fitted a new hard drive and wen to use a dell windows 8 disc (which ive used on others fine) but its asking me for code almost immediately which usually it auto populates.

cant see any codes on the base of the laptop (as it is a windows 8 laptop) but how can i get the key? or is there another install disc i can use elsewhere to reload win 8 on ?

Please help

Are the iso's ok?

I'm in the same sort of position, I had to wipe a friends laptop completely before it would let me do anything. I've tried a number of versions of windows 8,/8.1 extracted the key from the bios and it won't activate.

It either files through the installation and then won't activate or stops and says the key isn't right for this version, anyone got any ideas?

I'm downloading the x86 8.1 iso now from the link above, might as well try that one as well

Is the integrated key for standard or pro?

The ISOs are straight from Microsoft. You can compare the SHA1 hash.

Hi,

it must have been standard, as I've I tried a windows 8 and 8.1 iso (which must have been pro) from someone in the office and once I extracted the key it didn't like it.

I made a bootable usb drive from the iso you linked to and used the 8.1 core key, then extracted the key from the bios and amazingly it worked!

I'll be keeping that ISO and list of Keys, as I'm sure as Win 8 becomes more popular I'll see more knackered laptops, they seem to have made it as difficult as possible for anyone to do anything with them. I couldn't do anything originally with the uefi bios, I had to remove the drive put it in this machine and wipe the windows parition before it would let me get to the recovery bit.

is the link to your google drive?
